He is a best-selling author, consultant, media pundit, and thought-leader who has spoken at many conferences around the world where he gives leaders the skills they need to deal with fast, big changes in society, the workplace, and schools.
John Maxwell is hired to speak at events and conferences where he can give expertise on important global business affairs. Maxwell is the founder of “INJOY,” “The John Maxwell Company,” “The John Maxwell Team,” and “EQUIP,” and he claims to have instructed more than 5 million leaders in virtually every country on the planet. In addition to “INJOY,” Maxwell created “The John Maxwell Company,” “The John Maxwell Team,” and “EQUIP.” Even the leaders of other countries have sought his advice and had conversations with him.
He thinks that “anything rises and falls on leadership” and that everyone, with a little support, is capable of leaving a legacy of some kind. His website claims that he has always had the ambition to make a positive impact on both the globe and people’s actions.
Background
In 1947, Maxwell was born in Garden City, which is in the state of Michigan. Following the traditions of his evangelical Christian grandfather, he decided to pursue a career in ministry. In 1969, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in theology from Circleville Bible College, a master’s degree in religious studies from Azusa Pacific University, and a doctorate in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Maxwell and his partner Margaret have made their home in South Florida for the time being. The Wesleyan Church is responsible for ordaining him as a priest in their congregation.
Since the 1970s, Maxwell has been the pastor of churches in Indiana, Ohio, California, and Florida. He has served in this capacity in the state of Florida.
He was given the position of senior pastor at the evangelical Skyline Church in La Mesa, California, in 1981, and he remained in that role for the subsequent 14 years. During his tenure as pastor, the church evolved into a megachurch with more than 3,000 weekly attendees, and the average number of people attending on weekends increased by three.
Maxwell resigned from this post in 1995 so that he could focus on “INJOY Stewardship,” a company that he had established in 1992 with the purpose of “assisting churches in growing more completely dedicated disciples of Jesus, as opposed to merely money.”
During this time, Maxwell may have more spare time on his hands to publish, and within a few years, he will have established a strong reputation within the leadership world.
After achieving his first measure of success, he went on to publish a plethora of additional works that have stood the test of time, such as “Leadership Gold,” “The Five Levels of Leadership,” “Talent Is Never Enough,” “Put Your Dream to the Test,” and “Thinking for a Change.”
Maxwell will be inducted into Amazon’s Hall of Fame in 2005 as one of the company’s 25 founding members, rubbing hands with Jim Collins, Marcus Buckingham, Johnson and Blanchard, and Stephen Covey – you know, a few spaces below the towering Tolkien and J. K. Rowling. They govern the world of fictitious literature. It is no surprise that Maxwell was accepted into Amazon’s Hall of Fame in 2005.
At this point, Maxwell would resume his work as a congressional minister while returning to Florida’s Christ Fellowship, where he is currently serving as pastor.
By 1999, John Maxwell, an author known for his extraordinary productivity, had written at least fourteen books. And the vast majority of them had amassed their wealth on their own. But even he may not have known that he had developed a leadership guideline for all times when, in 1999, he chose to document the skills he had learned during the preceding three decades. He did this to share his experiences with others so that they could benefit from them.
