During his time at the World Bank, Goldin had some vice president jobs. Some of these responsibilities include being on the Executive Committee of a Bank and being in charge of all majority shareholder relations & involvement with the United Nations and another international partnering. Goldin worked as the CEO and managing director of the Development Banks of Southern Africa from 1995 to 2001. Under his leadership, the Bank changed in a way that made it possible until it became an industrially independent agent of infrastructure development and operational, financial support in the fourteen countries of Southern Africa, the main source of funding for more than 500 municipalities, and a catalyst for the development of a wide range of public-private partnerships in the region. Throughout this time, Goldin went on several state visits with President Mandela and worked as his policy adviser. Before, Goldin ran the Programs on Trade, Environment, and Sustainable Development at the OECD Development Centre in Paris. He was also the chief economist for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London.

Goldin got a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts with honors from the University of Cape Town, an M.sc from the London School of Economics, a diploma in advanced management from INSEAD, as well as a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford. Among the other honors and awards he has won, he was named a “Global Leader of Tomorrow” by the World Economic Forum and made a knight by France. He has written almost 50 papers and 18 books.

In addition to his most recent book, The Butterfly Defect (Princeton University Press), which Jean-Claude Trichet, the former head of the European Central Bank and chairman of the G30, called “remarkable” and of “utmost interest,” and Is the Planet Full? (Oxford University Press), which several reviewers said “must be read by everyone,” four of his most recent books are Globalization for Development (Oxford University Press), which Nobel Prize winner Jose Sarmiento called “a (Cambridge University Press).
