Robert Herjavec is a Croatian-Canadian businessman, investor, and television personality. He is perhaps best known for his role as a panelist on the popular television series Shark Tank.
Herjavec was born in Varaždin, Croatia, in 1962. At the age of eight, he and his family fled to Canada to escape communist rule. They settled in Toronto, where Herjavec attended high school and later earned a degree in English literature from the University of Toronto.
After college, Herjavec took a job at a software company, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become the firm’s chief technology officer. In 1990, he left the company to start his own technology business, BRAK Systems. The company specialized in developing software for banks and financial institutions, and it quickly became a success.
In 2003, Herjavec sold BRAK Systems to AT&T for a reported $30.2 million. He then founded another technology company, Herjavec Group, which provides cybersecurity and managed IT services to businesses around the world.
In addition to his business ventures, Herjavec is also a well-known public speaker and author. He has written several books on entrepreneurship and business, including “Driven: How to Succeed in Business and in Life” and “The Will to Win: Leading, Competing, Succeeding.”
