Speaker Bio

John Robitaille is a highly-sought motivational speaker and expert covering such topics as teamwork, conflict resolution, communication, leadership, creativity, and entrepreneurship. He is a best-selling author, consultant, media pundit, and thought-leader who has spoken at many conferences around the world where he gives leaders the skills they need to deal with fast, big changes in society, the workplace, and schools.

John Robitaille is hired to speak at events and conferences where he can give expertise on important global business affairs. He has had success in a wide range of roles for over thirty years, including an executive with Fortune 500 companies, senior communication advisor to elected officials, labor relations negotiator, radio talk show host, media relations consultant, trainer, coach, and mentor to entrepreneurs.

As a labor relations negotiator, John was often asked to settle disputes, represent companies in arbitration, and work out contracts with big unions like the Teamsters, UPIU, Electrical Workers, Bakers Confectioners, and Machinists, among others. John’s consistent use of direct and honest communication to solve problems and win over skeptics was a big part of his success.

John started Perspective Communications and was its president and chief executive officer. He was a successful businessman. During his twenty years with the organization, John not only made presentations for senior corporate leaders but also coached and mentored them on how to use presentation media effectively, how to give speeches personally, and how to improve communication with clients, coworkers, and customers.

John is often asked on radio, and TV shows what he thinks about leadership, communication, politics, and starting a business, among other things. He has also been the host of his show on WADK and network news and syndicated talk shows, where he has talked about local, state, and federal issues like politics, business, and starting a business.

During his 2010 run for governor of Rhode Island, he improved at speaking in public and being interviewed. Formal and unofficial polls show that John got the best scores in almost all of the 30 debates and forums held during the election cycle. Since then, candidates for federal, state, and local government jobs have asked him to help them prepare for debates and media appearances.

John is currently an Executive in Residence at Johnson & Wales University’s Entrepreneurship Center, where he teaches and advises aspiring business owners and helps them get ready to “present” their ideas to investors, early adopters, clients, business partners, and staff. He recently made a program called “The Art of the Pitch” to teach people how to speak in public.

John has given keynote speeches about leadership, effective communication, public speaking, creativity, and innovation at company meetings, association gatherings, chambers of commerce, non-profit fund-raising events, union meetings, conferences, and training seminars. He uses his sense of humor, his ability to tell a story, and his years of experience to get his ideas across to a wide range of people.

During his campaign for governor, he got better at debating and dealing with tough questions from the media. Since then, candidates for federal, state, and local government jobs have asked him to help them prepare for debates and media appearances.

John was most recently Executive in Residence at the Entrepreneurship Center at Johnson & Wales University. He coached and mentored aspiring businesses and helped them develop “pitches” for possible investors, early adopters, clients, business partners, and staff.
