Dr. George S. Everly Jr. is a highly-sought keynote speaker and expert covering such topics as mental health, health and wellness, crisis, and psychology. He is a best-selling author, consultant, media pundit, and thought-leader who has spoken at many conferences around the world where he gives leaders the skills they need to deal with fast, big changes in society, the workplace, and education.

From 2016 to 2021, PubMed PubReminer ranked him as the most prolific author in two categories: crisis intervention and psychological first aid. Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health’s Center for Humanitarian Health, and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Dr. Everly holds honorary professorships at the University of Flores in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the University of Weiner in Lima, Peru. He is a member of the CDC Mental Health Collaboration Committee (where he led the mental health competency development subcommittee) and the US Department of Homeland Security Infrastructure Experts.
He acts as a liaison between the Hong Kong Hospital Authority and the Office of His Highness, The Amir of Kuwait. Dr. Everly co-founded the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, a non-profit public health organisation affiliated with the United Nations, and served as the organization’s non-governmental representative to the United Nations. Previously, he served as a distinguished visiting professor at Universidad de Flores (Argentina).
Since nearly twenty-five years ago, he has served as ATF’s clinical supervisor. Prior to holding these positions, Dr. Everly was a Harvard Scholar in psychology at Harvard University, a Visiting Lecturer in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the Chief Psychologist and Director of Behavioral Medicine at Johns Hopkins’ Homewood Hospital Center.
Dr. Everly is the co-author of more than 100 scholarly articles and 20 textbooks. His published works include “A Clinical Guide to the Treatment of the Human Stress Response,” 4th Edition (Springer, 2019), “STRONGER: Develop the Resilience You Need to Succeed,” “Resilient Leadership” (DiaMedica, 2010), “The Johns Hopkins Guide to Psychological First Aid” (DiaMedica, 2009, Gold Medal Winner), and “The Resilient Child” (DiaMedica, 2009, Gold Medal Winner) (JHU Press, 2017). He was the editor of a monograph on pandemic influenza protection reactions. “Transformative Resilient Leadership: Leading Beyond Crisis” is his most recent book.
As a public speaker, Dr. Everly has delivered presentations in 39 countries across six continents. His works were translated into the languages of Russian, Arabic, Swedish, Polish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, German, and Korean.
