She also writes a famous column named Race Ahead in which she covers leadership, innovation, breakthrough, philanthropy, and poverty, while also covering sensitive topics like race, inclusion and diversity. Her column has been the recipient in the National Headliner Award, The New York Press Club Award for Commentary and Steven Heller for Commentary. She is also the co-chair of the CEO Initiative owned by Fortune.
Prior to Fortune, Ellen has also worked in Your First Leadership Job as a writer, editor and content specialist. She closely worked with two lead researchers to produce Your First Leadership Job: How catalyst Leaders Bring out The Best in Others published by Willy. She has formatted, outlined, ghost wrote and edited the 300-page book.
Also, Ellen extensively worked to translate research into accessible content. Being a journalist, she also conducted in depth interviews of renowned people in business.

Ellen was born on the 3rd of May in New York, United States. She attended her PS75 Emily Dickinson Elementary School between 1968 to 1970. She availed her Bachelor’s degree in History around 1980. Her father was World War 2 military officer who fought as the segregated army. She was brought up in black descent family. Currently, she is around 60 years of age, happily married and mother to a daughter. She resides in the Midwest.
