Dr. Donna Hicks, author of the best-selling book “Dignity: Its Essential Role in Conflict ,” has gained international praise for her novel approach to conflict resolution, which focuses on our shared need to be treated with respect and Dignity. Her approach has been regarded as a breakthrough in the resolution of conflicts.

Dr. Hicks has been a mediator of international disputes in numerous countries, including the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Northern Ireland, Cuba, and the United States, over the past 25 years. Her unique focus on Dignity and the crucial role it plays in conflict resolution has revolutionised the workplaces of some of the world’s most prestigious corporations, government agencies, and non-profit organisations.

As co-host of the BBC show Facing a Truth with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Dr. Hicks was a critical member of a three-part television series that assisted perpetrators and victims of the Northern Ireland wars in finding closure. The title of the series was Facing the Truth. She is presently a research associate at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University. She has taught at Harvard, Clark, and Columbia Universities, where she shared her knowledge with some of the country’s greatest minds. She presented a speech on the topic of Dignity at the 2013 TEDx Stormont conference, which was titled “Imagine.”

Dignity, authored by Dr. Hicks and published by Yale University Press, was the runner-up for best nonfiction book at the 2011 New England Book Festival.
