Speaker Bio

Deborah Meaden is a well-known figure due to her participation in the BBC program “Dragons Den,” She portrays herself as a self-made businesswoman who is a potential investor who is both firm and fair. Deborah had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age & started her first business at the age of nineteen, using the money she had saved up from her various jobs. She has always dreamed of being a business owner throughout her life.

Beginnings

Deborah Meaden was born in February of 1959 & raised in Essex. She has always had a strong drive to succeed. After completing her secondary education, she enrolled in a business college to launch her enterprise (or companies) one day. Deborah found work in the fashion industry after completing her training program.

At nineteen, Italy, the source of creativity, uprooted her life. She moved to Italy, where she started her own business selling upscale glass and ceramic goods to stores like Harvey Nichols in the United Kingdom. Deborah had sole agency rights for products that she supplied; however, those products soon began to be sold in shops that were her competitors, and she was forced to give up her first business.

She re-entered the business world undeterred and soon opened the first franchise location in the United Kingdom for Italian shoe company Stefanel in collaboration with a friend. Despite their achievements, Deborah decided that it was time for her to advance her career. Her friend agreed to take over the entire franchise, and Deborah pursued other opportunities, including a position in the leisure industry with Butlins.

Life In Leisure Industry

After gaining additional experience in the retail and leisure industries, Deborah worked her way up to operations director at an amusement arcade company. Soon after, she began working with holiday parks for the same company where she is currently employed. The company expanded from a single holiday park to five after she was given the role of managing director and oversaw the expansion.

Deborah ultimately completed the company’s purchase through an MBO, and after she took over management, the business enjoyed even greater success. Although she sold the company in 2005, she continues to play an active role in the organization. At the moment, she has her hands in a few different businesses.
