David Hanson began his career in robotics at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where he helped design robots to land on planets like Mars. Acclaimed as one of the world’s first social robots by PC Magazine and WIRED magazine, Dr. Hanson has collaborated with artists such as Damien Hirst (a friend of Hanson’s brother Nigel), KAWS, Takashi Murakami, Marc Newson and Kanye West to pioneer many fascinating forms of Human-to-Human (H2H) and Human-to-Robot interactivity.
Hanson is a world-renowned Artificial Intelligence researcher who creates incredibly humanlike robots with the ability to use NLP and express themselves through facial expressions and body movement. Hanson’s most recent advancements include Sophia, who can see you and talk with you using her AI, with an uncanny capacity for mimicking human facial expressions, along with the Honda Walking robot: Albert Hubo.
