Kevin Nealon is an American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his nine seasons as a cast member of Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1995. He currently stars in ‘Man With a Plan’ and ‘Happy!’. Nealon has been active in the entertainment industry for over three decades.
Nealon was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1953. He was the youngest of three children. His father was an aircraft engineer and his mother was a housewife. Nealon grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a degree in marketing. After college, Nealon pursued his career in comedy, performing at various clubs around the country. In 1981, he was introduced to a representative from NBC and was invited to audition for SNL. He was eventually hired as a featured player, and was later promoted to full-time cast member.
During his time on SNL, Nealon developed a variety of characters, including the “Subliminal Man” and “Hans and Franz”. He also appeared in several sketches alongside his close friend, Chris Farley. Nealon’s tenure on the show ended in 1995 and he went on to star in a number of television shows and films, including ‘Just Shoot Me’, ‘Weeds’, and ‘Grown Ups’. He has also appeared as a guest on numerous talk shows and game shows, including ‘The Tonight Show’ and ‘Jeopardy’.
Nealon has earned several accolades over the course of his career. He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1997 for his work on SNL and was honored with the Comedy Central Commencement Speaker Award in 2012. He was also inducted into the Connecticut Walk of Fame in 2011.
Nealon is also an accomplished writer. He has published several books, including a memoir entitled ‘Yes, You’re Pregnant, But What About Me?’, which was released in 2008. He also co-authored a satirical novel entitled ‘No Kidding’, which was published in 2010.
