Michelle Mone is a highly-sought keynote speaker and expert covering such topics as business growth, retail, entrepreneurship, and motivation. She is a best-selling author, consultant, media pundit, and thought-leader who has spoken at many conferences around the world where she gives leaders the skills they need to deal with fast, big changes in society, the workplace, and education.
Michelle Mone is hired to speak at events and conferences where she can give expertise on important global business affairs. She is among the most in-demand business motivational speakers. She was named the best female speaker in the UK, but she is best known as one of the most powerful women in the country and a supporter of equal pay for men and women at work.
She made Ultimo Brands International, the biggest lingerie company in the UK for the past 20 years, to help women look and feel their best. This simple idea was at the heart of Baroness Mone’s work and status. As
a reward for her great work in business, the Prime Minister gave her
a Life Peerage to the House of Lords and the OBE from Her Majesty the Queen.
Baroness Mone did grow up in Glasgow’s poor East End. Her father was paralyzed and had to use a wheelchair for the rest of his life when he was fifteen. Michelle had to drop out of school without a certificate to get a full-time job. Because of this, she had to start her own business. At 22, she became the Head of Sales and Marketing for Labatt’s Brewers in Scotland, based in Glasgow. However, she was fired only two years later.
After Ultimo came out, Michelle became known as one of Scotland’s best exports. She won the Business Woman of the Year award at the Corporate Elite Awards in London and the World Young Business Achiever Award in Florida in 2000. Prince Charles asked her to join The Prince’s Trust’s board of directors, which shows that she is one of the most important businesswomen in the UK.
Michelle attended a speech by Bill Clinton and Mikhail Gorbachev in October 2005. This led to her helping to start the Women’s Enterprise Project in the Middle East to help the Sultan of Oman. She now understood how her lessons in life and good advice could change people’s minds and give them the strength to keep going through hard times.
Michelle has had a rough few years, including a messy divorce and trouble keeping her business going, but she has become one of the most well-known British international speakers. Over the last twenty years, the Baroness has spoken to and helped people in more than fifty countries. In 2016, the Prime Minister, David Cameron, and the former Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, Iain Duncan Smith, asked her to do The Mone Review, a look at how to help start-up businesses in areas that haven’t had much help.
Around the end of 2016, Rebecca, Declan, and Bethany’s mother sold Ultimo to MAS Holdings, the biggest private clothing company in the world. MAS Holdings has 63,000 employees and makes $1.4 billion in sales annually. After handing over control of her UTAN company to her oldest daughter Rebecca at the start of 2017, Michelle has decided to focus on teaching, to mentor, and designing.
After becoming the best jewelry designer on QVC, Michelle started a company that does interior design worldwide. Through her company, she has already been a key part of the building of two residential and business complexes in Dubai. In addition to these businesses and her ongoing investments in technology companies, Michelle hopes to expand her reach with an innovative new project still in the planning stages but aims to help women gain more power.
