John went to the United States Naval Academy and got mechanical engineering degree. As a Midshipmen defensive back, he played in two bowl games and helped the team win the Navy have its best four-year football record in school history. John was named a “Top Ten Carrier Pilot” six times before he joined the Marines and became a Blue Angel. He has a master’s degree in international policy studies from Stanford University, a master’s degree in corporate management from Stanford as a Sloan Fellow, and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the Naval War College.
