James Caan is a highly-sought keynote speaker and expert covering such topics as leadership, entrepreneurship, talent management, peak performance, and motivation. He is a best-selling author, consultant, media pundit, and thought-leader who has spoken at many conferences around the world where he gives leaders the skills they need to deal with fast, big changes in society, the workplace, and schools.
James Caan is hired to speak at events and conferences where he can give his expertise on important global business affairs. A business owner who has done well, he changed his surname from Nazim Khan to James Caan in the 1980’s so that clients would remember him better. Then Caan started the Alexander Mann Group in Pall Mall to help people find jobs. Although the office was only one small room, he thought that the office’s address would help the company’s reputation. In 2002, he gave up on the business.
Caan also helped start Humana International in 1993. This is a company that helps companies all over the world find executives. The business grew quickly and now has 147 office spaces in 30 countries. In 1999, Caan was able to sell his share of the company.
Caan later started the private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw Ltd., which helps small and medium-sized businesses reach their full financial potential. He is the CEO of a company at the time.
In 2003, Caan decided to go back to school. He did so at Harvard Business School, where he finished the Advanced Management Program. Since he dropped out of school at 16, he had also missed a lot of formal education.
“Dragons’ Den”: Caan’s business skills made him the perfect choice to be a Dragon investor on the BBC show Dragons Den. In 2007, he began showing up on the show, and fans & cave dwellers alike liked how calm and collected he was. He put money into some new businesses because he has always thought helping entrepreneurs is good for people and society.
During the floods in Pakistan in 2010, Caan helped the Department of International Development figure out how to get help to those who needed it. Caan is indeed a government policy counselor on the Entrepreneurial Forum, where he happens to share his knowledge of business and starting a business.
Caan has done much volunteer work with the organization Younger Kids in Need. He has done TV fundraisers and helped build an after-school center for kids and teens. He takes part in a Sport Relief mission in Kenya.
In 2005, Caan started the James Caan Foundation. Started the organization to help poor areas of Pakistan, but now it works with many other charities to help people in need in many different countries. Caan has worked with several charitable groups, such as Marie Curie, The Princes Trust, Mosaic, the Care Foundation, and the NSPCC.
Family Life
On December 28, 1960, Nazim Khan was born in Lahore, Pakistan, and he is now known as James Caan. When he was two, his family moved to London’s Brick Lane, where his father started a business making leather jackets. Even though his family wanted him to, Caan chose not to take on this role after he finished school.
Even though Caan’s choice not to take part met the family business with silence for many years, Caan still thinks his father had a big impact on his corporate philosophy. At sixteen, he left his family’s home and regular schooling to become a door-to-door salesman. Even though Caan was good at sales, he was scared of how busy he would have to be in this job. He worked hard to find an office job, and soon after, the Grand Metropolitan conglomerate hired him.
Caan kept working in several different jobs, and most of those were with job agencies. At the beginning of the 1980s, he and his current girlfriend Aisha chose to launch a successful store that made about $12,000 a month. Even though the company was doing well, he decided to form a new company because he thought it was the best thing to do.
Caan and his wife, Aisha, live together. The names of the pair’s two daughters are Jemma-Lia and Hannah.
