Blake Mycoskie is an Arlington, Texas-based entrepreneur and philanthropist. His firm, TOMS Shoes, offers shoes to children in need all around the globe as the organization’s creator and primary shoe provider. Threads for Change, which Mycoskie started as a non-profit, offers entrepreneurial training and tools to individuals in underdeveloped nations.
The fourth of four children, Mycoskie was born on October 28, 1976. His parents, Mike Mycoskie, a prosperous real estate developer, and Pam Mycoskie, a homemaker, raised him. He was brought up in a Christian household and went to private school. Football, basketball, and baseball were among his favorite sports.
SMU’s Division I lacrosse team recruited Mycoskie after he graduated from high school. He went on to play for SMU in college. In 1999, he received a business degree.
Out of graduation, Mycoskie’s first employment was in San Francisco, at an online start-up. He subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, where he began working in the entertainment sector.” His online driver’s education firm was sold in 2006, and he began his own in 2002.
Mycoskie’s first job outside of the United States was with an internet start-up in San Francisco after graduating from college. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked in the entertainment industry. He started an online driving school in 2002 while working for another company; he eventually sold it in 2006.
Mycoskie made a journey to Argentina in the summer of 2006, when he was shocked by the poverty he saw. The small child had no shoes on when he met him, so he decided to provide him with some. TOMS Shoes was founded as a result of Blake Mycoskie’s selfless deed.
When you buy one pair of TOMS Shoes, you’re helping children in need. The company donates a pair of shoes to a kid in need for each pair of shoes it sells. More than 60 million pairs of shoes have been given out by TOMS since 2016.
Start Something That Matters, Mycoskie’s book on the TOMS Shoes narrative and guidance for social entrepreneurs, was released in 2010.
His latest venture is Warby Parker, an eyeglasses firm founded by Mycoskie in 2015. The objective of Warby Parker, a for-profit firm, is to give low-cost eyeglasses to those who cannot afford them. One pair of spectacles is donated for every pair bought.
Also, Mycoskie is the creator of Threads for Change, a non-profit organization. Threads for Change helps individuals in impoverished nations build their own enterprises by offering education and tools.
