Andy Stefanovich, the chief curator and provocateur of Prophet, has gained a reputation as one of the most innovative and effective business counsellors in the business world in his role. In the past two decades, he has worked with organisations such as General Electric, General Mills, Procter & Gamble, the United States Olympic Committee, and the Coca-Cola Company to promote innovation from the inside out, thereby enriching their employees and driving market development.

Andy Stefanovich’s main passion resides in guiding customers through the transformative process of moving from inspiration to creativity and then innovation. He provides practical skills, leadership characteristics, and particular processes for developing ideas in the workplace to students and professionals alike.

Commonly featured on CNBC as a nationally recognised innovation thought leader, Stefanovich also serves as a visiting professor at a number of leading universities, including Dartmouth, the University of Michigan, Duke, the University of Richmond, and the Wharton School of Leadership. Stefanovich received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his master’s degree from the University of Michigan.

Besides being an author, he is frequently consulted by the media to express his thoughts on current affairs. Look at More, his book on innovation, is a best-seller on Inc., and it was named one of Advertising Age’s “Ten Marketing Book You Should Have Read” in 2011. After working in the marketing dept of the Ritz-Carlton, he started his own company, Opus Event Marketing, in 1990. Initially, the company concentrated on corporate event planning, but it later evolved into an unique marketing firm that specialised in product creation, branding, and positioning. Working with a variety of organisations and enterprises, including Colgate-Palmolive, American Express, Calvin Klein, Disney, Oscar Mayer, and the United States The International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In 2011, Stefanovich joined forces with three other renowned Richmond businessmen to form a venture called New Richmond Ventures (NRV). The other partners were Bob Mooney, Jim Ukrop, and Theodore Chandler, Jr. NRV is a venture capital firm that focuses on local and “social impact” investments. It has made early-stage investment opportunities in a number of firms, including MedCPU, PlanG, and Plugless Power.

In 2012, Stefanovich co-founded a second local incubator, called Men In Shirts, which invests in 3–4 firms per year in the $50–$150,000 range. Men In Shirts is similar to NRV, but it focuses on women-owned businesses.

Their interests include Ledbury, a Richmond-based men’s shirtmaker, as well as Ardent Craft Ales, a brewery in New York City. Stefanovich also gives “marketing and strategic guidance,” in addition to finance, to clients. In 2013, Stefanovich organised the inaugural TEDx event in Richmond, named TEDxRVA, which revolved on the theme “CREATE.” His appearances on Consumer News and Enterprise Channel, where he speaks about innovation and thought leadership, and the Fast Company magazine are regular occurrences.

Aside from that, Stefanovich has served as a visiting professor and guest lecturer at an universities including Yale University, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, and Dartmouth College.

He has given a number of TEDx talks, including ones for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the London Business School, and TEDxYouth, among others. Stefanovich’s first book, Look at More: A Proven Approach to Creativity, Growth, and Change, was published in 2011 by Jossey-Bass, an imprint of Wiley Publishing, and was a critical success.
