Adam Cheyer is a technology keynote speaker, AI specialist, and entrepreneur who co-founded Siri, which was purchased by Apple, and then co-founded Viv, which formed the backbone of the voice control Bixby for Samsung phones, televisions, watches, and more. Change.org, the world’s biggest petition website with more than 300 million users, counts him as a leading member and also the site’s initial developer.
As a business innovator, Cheyer has worked with research laboratories, startups, and some of the world’s top technology corporations, bringing concepts to market that have had a beneficial effect on millions of people. When Adam Cheyer was working at SRI’s Artificial Intelligence Center, he was the Chief Architect of the CALO/PAL research, an aspirational endeavour to develop a next-generation cognitive processing assistant who learns and develops “in the wild” Adam Cheyer (e.g. with no code changes). With the help of 25 research organizations, universities, and commercial enterprises, Cheyer’s team was able to create a working system that can deliver value to users and pass SAT-like examinations every year.
Before Sybase, Mr. Adam Cheyer served as the company’s VP of Engineering of Dejima, where he had been responsible for monitoring the company’s engineering workforce, technological strategy, and product development.
Mr. Adam Cheyer served as VP of Engineering for Verticalnet, where he oversaw the development of products in consortium marketplace, private markets, as well as enterprise solutions. OSM, an ontology-driven distributed information comprehension toolkit, and the C2 Suite were all part of Verticalnet’s product line, which also comprised several integrated trading apps.
Throughout his career, Mr. Cheyer has worked in several positions ranging from executive to software engineer to research scientist to a consultant. More than twenty patents and fifty-nine peer-reviewed articles have made him a pioneer in distributed computing, intelligent agent, and innovative user interfaces. Mr. Cheyer also has served on a variety of advisory boards and program committees.
SRI International’s Computer-Human Interactions Center (CHIC) was co-directed by Mr. Cheyer as a Senior Scientist as well as Co-Director of the Center for Computer-Human Interaction (CHIC). At Bull S.A., he was the architect and primary developer of NOEMIE, a configuration of intelligent information used to manage Bull’s 30,000 hardware & software products globally. Mr. Cheyer graduated with honours from Brandeis University with a bachelor’s degree and UCLA with a master’s degree and an “excellent master’s student” distinction.
